Dear compassionate Hamiltonians,
Are you looking to make a lasting impact in your community? Do you have a desire to help families build a brighter future while enriching your own life? Look no further! At Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, we are seeking dedicated volunteers to help advance our mission and create positive change in the lives of local families in need. We have several different ways you can get involved, so there is something for everyone (18 or over). In some areas, the need for volunteers in now urgent, so please consider joining our team today!
Current Volunteer Opportunities
1. Restore Volunteer: Join our ReStore team and contribute to our efforts in providing affordable housing to families. Volunteer shifts are 4 hours long, starting at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m., available six days a week. Help us with customer service, including loading and unloading items, organizing merchandise, tidying, cleaning, and answering customer questions. The ReStore is an essential part of every Habitat for Humanity affiliate! Did you know that thanks to the ReStore, 100% of every dollar donated can go directly to our charitable programs?
2. ReStore Fix-It Shop Volunteer: Are you handy with tools and enjoy fixing things? Volunteer in our Fix-It Shop, where we ensure that donated items are in good working order before they hit the sales floor. Help us test, fix, repair, and assemble items to give them a new lease on life. Volunteer shifts are 4 hours, Monday to Friday, starting at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m.
3. Salvage Crew: Join our Salvage Team and make a difference by removing kitchens and other items from donors’ homes. Salvage Team members use their own tools and transportation for these rewarding activities.
4. New ReStore Build Out and Prep Volunteer: Habitat Hamilton is thrilled to announce our second ReStore location, and we will need your help in renovating it. While we’re not actively recruiting volunteers for this project just yet, we encourage you to add your name to the list of interested volunteers today. Stay tuned for more details!
5. Build Site Volunteers – RePair Projects (URGENT): Work with us to rehabilitate vacant CityHousing units through our RePair program. You can help us bring these CityHousing-owned units back online and provide affordable, rent-geared-to-income housing for families in need. Lend a hand in tasks like flooring, wall repair, painting, and trim work. The waitlist for an affordable unit in Hamilton is over 6000 people/families long – change this by volunteering on one of our CityHousing build sites today!
6. Sherman Ave Build Site Volunteer: We are currently constructing a 5-unit townhome at 149 Sherman Ave N. This is one of our biggest home build projects to date in our 30-year history! Be a part of this exciting project and sign up for one of our Community Build Days. Volunteers over 18 years of age are welcome to participate.
