Yes. Making a personal donation to the Hamilton ReStore will entitle you to a charitable tax receipt. Your tax receipt amount is determined based on the final sale price of your donated item(s).

The Hamilton ReStore is a social enterprise with a social mission to support the work of Habitat for Humanity Hamilton. Revenue generated from the Hamilton ReStore fund all administrative and operational costs for Habitat Hamilton. This means that 100% of donated funds to Habitat Hamilton directly support our Home Build Program for local families in need.

The Hamilton ReStore implements several initiatives that not only help divert items from the landfill, but that also help promote recycling. The unfortunate truth is that many people and companies throw away items that are no longer of use to them, instead of attempting to find them a new home. Fortunately, the Hamilton ReStore gives companies and individuals an opportunity to donate their items for a good cause. In turn, the Hamilton ReStore typically diverts about 900 metric tons of waste, each year.

In addition to diverting items from landfill, we also implement a metal salvage program, collecting and stripping wire from old products or items not deemed fit for resale. This not only helps us bring in extra revenue—to support Habitat for Humanity Hamilton’s mission—but it also enables us to be environmentally friendly!

We proudly partner with individuals and companies from our local communities, accepting donated home renovation material, tools, furniture and décor merchandise. We accept a wide range of new and gently used items. Commonly donated items include windows, doors, paint, hardware, flooring, tools, lighting fixtures, furniture and appliances.

If interested, please contact the Hamilton ReStore at restorepickups@habitathamilton.ca or give us a call at

The inventory is always changing at the Hamilton ReStore, with new items being donated daily. Our customers can expect to find items such as windows, doors, paint, hardware, flooring, tools, lighting fixtures, furniture and appliances.

And everything’s tax free!
