Our Home Build Program

Through our Home Build Program, we build homes and provide interest-free and geared-to-income mortgages to people who would not otherwise be able to secure a conventional mortgage. A Habitat home is a strong foundation for a family, and an opportunity on which they can build a better life. An affordable home helps homeowners save more, invest in education, pursue opportunities, and have more financial stability. This provides Hamilton families with the ability, and financial flexibility, to make forward-facing choices and to contribute to their community. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable families, leading to strong and stable communities. Learn more.

Meet our families

Esly

“My son will get to spend more quality time with my dad and brother, in a healthy environment. He will have his first bath ever – he’s going to love that! We will have a safe place for the first time. As he grows, he will have a place where he can feel comfortable to bring friends, which is a big thing to me. I hope he learns to appreciate this home. Having affordable housing will allow me to save for his education, laying a foundation for the future.”

Stephanie

“I’m so excited for our future. I never thought that as a single mom in this day and age that I would ever be able to be a homeowner. We’ve been through a lot, my family and I, but every struggle and every hardship we’ve come across and conquered has led us to this moment, so I wouldn’t change our journey for anything, and I’ve never been more excited to see what the future holds for us.”

Melissa

“I always told [my family] that when we get a house you can get a dog, so we will be getting out first family pet. My hopes are that they find what they like to do, and are happy and healthy. We will finish the basement and make a room for my older son when he comes. I’m now working to own a home to pass down to my kids and grandkids. I would never have been able to have this opportunity without Habitat. I am very thankful.”
