HAMILTON, ON (April 17, 2024) April 12, 2024, marked a very special occasion for Habitat for Humanity Hamilton as we welcomed members of the CityHousing Hamilton team for a special joint build day. Naturally, the build day took place at one of our active RePair CityHousing build sites. Since 2022, we have been partners with CityHousing Hamilton, revitalizing vacant homes and turning offline units into livable spaces again.
Traditionally focused on homeownership, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton recognized the pressing need to expand our efforts amidst the housing crisis currently gripping our city. With an ever-growing waitlist for subsidized housing, our organization felt compelled to broaden our scope to include affordable rentals, if ever there was an opportunity to do so.
Thanks to CityHousing Hamilton, we found that opportunity. By teaming up with them, we’ve extended our reach and amplified our impact, working together to bring more affordable housing options back to our community. This partnership signifies our commitment to addressing the critical need for housing and our dedication to serving those in need.
Every team build day we host is a great experience, playing a significant role in the successful advancement of our various construction projects. However, this day was particularly special, as it served as a symbol of mutual support and collective action in the face of challenging times by both organizations. Led by Adam Sweedland, CEO of CityHousing Hamilton, our combined efforts demonstrated the power of collaboration in creating positive change.
