For Habitat Hamilton CEO Sean Ferris, who recently surpassed the decade mark in leadership roles with Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, it’s been a bit of both. Since taking the helm as CEO, Ferris has brought stability and strong leadership to the affiliate, guiding it through the ups and downs of the housing landscape in Hamilton, and he has had a good time while doing it.
Ferris’ steady hand has helped navigate the organization through the challenges of trying to develop new affordable housing in one of the most expensive real estate markets in North America. Under his leadership, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton has been successful in providing safe, decent and affordable homes to families in need, while also growing the network of followers and supporters who can assist in delivering Habitat Hamilton’s mission.
Naturally, in his 10 years leading Habitat Hamilton, Ferris has made many significant changes. He has been able to bring his vision for the affiliate to life by creating a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect among the staff and volunteers. He has also been able to establish the affiliate as a leading voice in the community, working with other organizations and stakeholders to promote affordable housing and community development.
Ferris has also been able to raise the bar in terms of fundraising, allowing the affiliate to build more homes, and serve more families in need. He has a deep understanding of the needs of the community, and has been able to develop effective strategies to address them.
The reverberations of Ferris’ leadership have been felt throughout the city, as dozens of families have been able to build new lives in safe, quality, affordable homes.
