(Friday, May 15, 2020)— With ever changing developments regarding COVID-19, we’d like to provide our supporters, homeowners, volunteers, shoppers and stakeholders with an update regarding Habitat Hamilton’s revised operations.
After careful deliberation and consideration, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton has made the decision to reopen the Hamilton ReStore, with reduced hours and new safety regulations. Effective as of 10:00am EST, Tuesday, May 19, 2020, the Hamilton ReStore will reopen, accepting shoppers at its physical location (285 Nash Road North), Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
All visitors will be screened at our entrance and it will be mandatory for all patrons to disinfect their hands upon entry (hand sanitizer will be made available). Beyond this safety measure, we kindly ask shoppers to bring and wear a mask, if possible. We will be limiting the number of customers in the store to nine at a time. Shopping with another household member is permitted as long as household members remain together while in the store. All patrons are asked to follow our floor route markings and must use a shopping cart to promote physical distancing (shopping cart handles will be disinfected after every use by our staff). As an additional safety precaution, we will not be providing tape measures and we ask all shoppers to bring their own, if needed. Our washroom facilities will not be open for public use. We will also continue to provide contactless online curbside pick-up service. To shop online, visit us at www.facebook.com/HamiltonReStore.
Please be patient with us as these new safety regulations may create longer wait times. At this time, we will not be accepting returns and we ask all customers to make payment via credit or debit. The Hamilton ReStore continues to suspend public ReStore donations, its Kitchen Salvage Program and all general volunteer opportunities.
Habitat for Humanity Hamilton’s office will remain closed, until further notice. Office staff can still be reached via telephone and email. Please visit our ‘Meet our Staff’ webpage for contact details.
Our construction sites will remain active, though guided by new safety procedures to keep staff and contractors safe. Our general volunteer opportunities will be suspended until further notice.
The health, safety and well-being of our staff, customers, volunteers, donors, supporters, and homeowners is Habitat Hamilton’s top priority.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide ongoing updates, as needed. We will also continue to post updates to our social media accounts (@habitathamilton) and to our website, www.ebmediatestsite.ca/test8/news.
