Habitat for Humanity Hamilton receives generous support from REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington

(July 10, 2019—Hamilton, ON) – Habitat for Humanity Hamilton is thrilled to announce a generous donation from the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB). RAHB has contributed over $77,000 to our home build program, ensuring local families have access to strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

Bruce Moran, who is a former Habitat Hamilton board member and past President of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington, played a significant role helping to secure this donation in support of our Waterdown Townhome Build.

“This donation was raised by local REALTORS® who believe that home ownership should be accessible for all who want to do so,” says Bob Van de Vrande, President of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington. “Habitat for Humanity Hamilton has done so much to provide secure housing for those in our community. We are very honoured to work with them on this project.”

This funding will directly support our Waterdown Townhome Build, where three units are being built by Mikmada Homes at the intersection of Dennis Avenue and Dundas Street. The home build progress is well on its way, with the building fully erected and recently completed with shingles, brick, doors and windows. The exterior siding is now being completed, and volunteer groups will soon begin their work on exterior fencing and landscaping. The home build is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, allowing families to be moved in ahead of the next school year.

“This is our first time building in the Flamborough region, and the support we have received from the community is overwhelming,” says Habitat Hamilton Executive Director Sean Ferris. “This includes the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington’s donation, the largest monetary donation we’ve received for our Waterdown Townhome Build. We’re so thrilled to have such an incredible and generous partner, who is directly helping three future Habitat homeowners move into their new homes.”

Local service clubs, businesses and individuals interested in making a difference are encouraged to connect with Habitat for Humanity Hamilton to learn more about getting involved.
