The Hamilton ReStore Opens Online Store for Contactless Curbside Pickup

(Monday, January 4, 2020—Hamilton, ON) Habitat Hamilton’s ReStore announces the launch of its new Online ReStore. Starting today, customers can browse and purchase items from our ReStore from the comfort of their own home. Items will be available for contactless curbside pickup at the Hamilton ReStore located at 285 Nash Road North, Hamilton, ON, L8H 7P4.

With the announcement of the province-wide lockdown, The Hamilton ReStore knew it needed to find a way to ensure that its customers still had access to its affordable homeware products while also securing a means to generate revenue for its charitable arm, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton.

The Hamilton ReStore provides contactless curbside pickup Monday through Friday, during the hours of 10:00am to 4:00pm. However, customers can shop and purchase items whenever it’s most convenient to them. Despite the lockdown, The Hamilton ReStore will also continue to accept pre-approved donations via contactless curbside drop-off Monday through Friday during the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm. Limited pre-approved curbside donation pickups will also continue. Interested donors are encouraged to email ReStore staff with product donation photos (for pre-approval) at restorepickups@habitathamilton.ca.

“The Hamilton ReStore is a social enterprise with a mission to support the work of Habitat for Humanity Hamilton. Revenues generated from the Hamilton ReStore fund our administrative and operational costs for the charity. With the province-wide lockdown, it makes it much more challenging for us to bring in revenue, which is necessary in order for us to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter,” says Sean Ferris, Executive Director of Habitat Hamilton. “Thankfully, we were able to adapt to the situation quickly, launching an easy-to-use online shopping experience for our community of customers and supporters.”

Not unlike the bricks and mortar Hamilton ReStore, the online store offers new and used affordable merchandise to the general public at a discounted rate of up to 75% off retail and free of tax. The online store sells various products, including but not limited to kitchen faucets, bathroom vanities, children’s toys, home décor products, hand tools, windows, furniture, light fixtures, flooring, and building materials.
