Reasons to Volunteer

COVID-19 Update: After careful deliberation and consideration, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton has made the decision to reopen the Hamilton ReStore, with reduced hours and new safety regulations. Effective as of 10:00am EST, Tuesday, May 19, 2020, the Hamilton ReStore will reopen, accepting shoppers at its physical location (285 Nash Road North), Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

We currently do not have any volunteer opportunities available.

We will continue to provide updates here.

Volunteers are Habitat for Humanity Hamilton’s greatest resource. Volunteering with Habitat Hamilton on one of our build sites, at our ReStore, in our office, on one of our committees or on our Board of Directors, can be an extremely rewarding experience.

Here are just some of the reasons why people volunteer with us:

  • They find value in helping and building their community
  • They want to help Hamilton families
  • They meet new people
  • They have the opportunity to learn new skills
  • They get to teach & share their skills with others
  • They build & strengthen their resume
  • They attain references
  • They complete their mandatory high school hours
  • They make productive use of their spare time
  • They reduce stress
  • They become happier and healthier
  • They make a difference
  • They gain a new perspective
  • They gain a new sense of purpose

We have a Volunteers Manager on staff to help you find the best fit that meets both your expertise and your passion. To learn more about how to get started, please contact us at 905-560-6707 ext. 102 or email us at volunteers@habitathamilton.ca.
