The C-S family is a large family of 6, comprised of 2 parents and 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl, ranging in ages 2 through 9 years old). The father is a Construction Laborer and the mother is a Sales Associate. Though both parents work, the family cannot afford decent housing and currently live in overcrowded conditions. This makes it very difficult for their children to get a good night’s rest. They’ve tried applying for a conventional mortgage, and though they have a strong credit score, they were denied a pre-approval. Soon, the C-S family will have a Habitat home to call their own.
The A’s are a wonderful family of eight, who’ve been residing here in the City of Hamilton for many years. Before moving into their Habitat home in 2015, the A’s were living in a two-bedroom apartment, with four people sleeping to each bedroom. Though space was limited, the lack of accessibility for their two sons in wheelchairs made the space even more difficult to manage.
Though the A family has faced their fair-share of economic, health and housing-related challenges, they’re the type of family that never gives up. Mr. and Ms. A work very hard, providing an unconditional amount of love and care to their six children, each and every single day.
That’s why Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, alongside house sponsors Women in Law, knew that the A family was the perfect match for our new home build. After countless hours of volunteer support and fundraising initiatives, the A family home was complete. Not only is their new home spacious enough for their big family, but it’s also outfitted with accessibility features necessary for the entire family to live healthily and comfortably.
