Birthday Builds

Celebrate your Next Birthday by giving back in a substantial way!

Host a Birthday Build!

What is a BIRTHDAY BUILD?

The “Birthday Build” concept was inspired by Meaghan Currie when she contacted Habitat Hamilton about doing a Team Build to commemorate and celebrate her upcoming birthday.

Meaghan wanted to do something different than the typical Birthday party and had been interested in building on a Habitat site after seeing a segment on our local television station.

We were thrilled at the idea of a “Birthday Build” and couldn’t believe we hadn’t thought of the idea ourselves!

“It was a wonderful day. We had a fantastic time and it was a very memorable birthday for me” – Meaghan Currie

Celebrate your Birthday while giving back to the community:

  • Provide the funds needed to build affordable homes in Hamilton, Ontario
  • Offer a valuable volunteer experience to your friends, family and/or co-workers
  • Give your team an opportunity to experience the thrill of seeing the immediate results of their labour
  • Present the opportunity to work alongside and empower our future homeowners
  • The donation is fully tax deductible. Habitat Hamilton is an registered CRA not for profit organization

Gather Friends, Family, & Co-Workers for an Unforgettable Birthday!

Spend your birthday giving back in a truly substantial way!

Birthday Build

Up to 15 participants with a goal of $2500 donation, includes:

  • A day of building on a Habitat for Humanity Hamilton jobsite
  • A designated site supervisor to instruct you
  • Habitat Build T-Shirts for all participants
  • Lunch provided to all participants by a member of our staff
  • Birthday treats for your team
  • A photo of your group on site
  • Your Birthday Build featured and highlighted on our Facebook page
  • Priority event scheduling

Birthday Build opportunities can take place Monday through Saturdays throughout the year and are scheduled on a first-come basis. Scheduling is subject to date availability, though Birthday Build participants do receive priority scheduling.

The workday is from 8:00am to 4:00pm and volunteers are expected to make a full day commitment. We may be able to accommodate larger groups depending on the stage of construction.

Teams are encouraged to give more if they are able to and we thank you for keeping Habitat Hamilton in mind while pursing your charitable giving goals. The Birthday Build program along with our Team Building Program is an option for volunteer groups who are looking to give back in a more substantial way. All levels of support are appreciated and volunteers are not required to donate in order to volunteer as non-sponsor/regular build days are also available Monday to Friday.

No previous construction skills are expected. Habitat for Humanity Hamilton will provide skilled construction staff to train and supervisor. All tools, safety equipment, and build materials needed for the day will be provided.

To receive more information or schedule a Birthday Build to commemorate your next Birthday, please contact Victoria Doidge at (905) 560-6707 ext 102 or volunteers@habitathamilton.ca
