Women Build Program

Women Build ProgramThe Women Build program challenges women to build a better future for our city’s children.

The recognition that women represented more than half of Habitat for Humanity’s volunteer force, but accounted for less than 25% of volunteers on a build site led to the creation of the Women Build Program as a way to encourage women to become involved in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes.

Women Build provides an environment that supports women volunteers in learning and using construction skills. The program promotes women in trades, and women on site in leadership positions, helping them move into opportunities previously unknown and unavailable to them.

All Women Build volunteers receive basic training and are mentored on site by more experienced home builders. The result: families have a decent place to live, affiliates have new volunteers, women have new skills and new generations have a legacy of volunteerism. This innovative, empowering program is transforming lives and gaining momentum across the country.

The Women Build program is coming to Habitat Hamilton. Watch this space for more details.
